More Inspirations From Strange Places

It' been really cold lately, and I noticed some really awesome patterns on the windows of my apartment. So I took some photos...

Christmas Cards!

So I just received this awesome book from amazon:

Which I love, and I got all inspired to get going on Christmas cards, which I have been wanting to make from some prints that didn't turn out for show and sale. Here's the first batch:

More to come, surely!

Final Projects Are Due Soon!

I started working on my graphic novel, starring the teacher from last project. Here  is the first painting. It's way better if you can get up close and see the details, so I might end up making my printouts larger than I origionally thought, we'll see.

Spelling

I just wanted to apologize to my fellow artists for encouraging the stereotype that creative people can't spell (or do math, concentrate for long periods of time, etc, but mostly spell). I'm not sure why but since starting this blog I've made more spelling mistakes than I can remember making ever. And I never notice them  until a week or 2 later. I don't really understand this since I am usually anal about spelling and grammar, and also little red wiggly lines show up under spelling mistakes while you are typing a post. Maybe it's my subconcious(I know that's got to be wrong) trying to tell me something....

Tranformation

A class project, series of 5 paintings transitioning from one emotional state to another. My concept was the contrast between the beauty and zen-like quality of nature, and the brutality of death. These are done with mixed media, digital versions(and possibly an animation) coming soon.

And a baby sock monkey, also sketched in AHIS class

My art history teacher
This one started out as a paring metre

More of the same process

Using shapes cut out of magazines, and painting over them, then turning them into creatures. I'm loving this process!
