Worklife 2
Myself, along with my classmates Jackie Lee and Jenn Kitagawa, and tons of awesome illustrators from all over the world, will be featured in Worklife 2, the second Uppercase directory of illustrators. It should be appearing sometime in February, but Janine Vangool of Uppercase just revealed the new cover yesterday! Very pretty and exciting.

Green Ribbon Test
This looks better than it did...but still too colouring-book-y for my liking...must find a way to fix that this week...while preferably still sleeping a bit...

Shiela Norgate
I just got back from a week-long camping trip on Gabriola Island, in BC. While I was there I was lucky enough to discover the work of one of the local artists, Sheila Norgate. I came home to look her up online, and I'm loving the landscapes in these bird images, as well as the subtle collage elements. Her website: www.sheilanorgate.com

Today's Inspiration: Baseball!
Specifically, kids playing baseball. I think they look so cute in all the gear.....
I heard from Jamie Morris about a call for submissions for the Children's Hospital, for which I have to do an illustration based on sports. I immediately gravitated towards something baseball themed....maybe because it's one of the few sports I actually know the rules for, or because I have been driving my baseball glove around in my trunk for over a year, just in case I decide to call up my Dad and go have a game of catch like when I was a kid. Anyways baseball and kids are a natural combination to me, and kind of bring up this nostalgic feeling, which in turn reminded me of the great movie The Sandlot, whic I think I might go watch right now....Friday, July 23, 2010
